  • Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Act (ESEA), provides financial assistance to local education agencies (LEAs) and schools, with high numbers or percentages of children from low-income families, in order to assist schools in ensuring that all children meet challenging academic standards.

The purpose of Title I programming is to provide supplemental academic interventions that will help students become proficient in grade level reading and math curriculum. There is a consistent correlation between the strategies your child sees in the classroom and the interventions and strategies supplemental support teachers use to help students fill in gaps in their learning as they accelerate their learning to grade level proficiency.

Sunrise Elementary School qualifies for this funding. Sunrise student population exceeds the district average for free or reduced lunches, however, students with the greatest educational need in reading and/or mathematics are identified by their classroom teacher to receive extra help regardless of family income or free and reduced lunch status.
